The art of mixology is a great hobby to have. But it can be expensive and time-consuming. Some cocktails require up to 10 ingredients and require several hours to prepare if you're counting Aviary cocktails. These cocktails however are easy to make at home with basic equipment and fairly basic ingredients.

I’ve done my research on the Mixel app and set the number of ingredients to three. Garnishes, while optional can make a cocktail taste different and sometimes better. But I will not count them towards the ingredient count.

Let’s get started with the list.

The B-52 is an IBA official cocktail that is mostly drunk as a shot. The ingredients have to be layered for a beautiful presentation. You can optionally set it on fire too.

0.5oz Kahlua or Coffee Liqueur
0.5oz Irish Cream Liqueur
0.5oz Grand Marnier
Layer on top of each other in a shot glass.

Bay Breeze

The Bay Breeze is an easy summer cocktail. It is easy to make and is also an IBA official.

2oz Vodka
6oz Cranberry Juice
1.5oz Pineapple Juice
Shake the ingredients with ice and strain it into a highball glass with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel.

The Boulevardier is a cocktail from Death & Co. It has three ingredients that most cocktail bars always have on hand and the whiskey can be swapped out for any whiskey of your choice.

1.5oz Bourbon
0.75oz Sweet Vermouth
0.75oz Campari
Stir the ingredients with ice and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.

Coconut Kallaloo

A BeachBum Berry Tiki cocktail. Prepared in a blender.

1oz Lime Juice
1oz Cream of Coconut
2.5oz Gold Rum (Pref. from Virgin Islands)
Blend everything with one cup of crushed ice until smooth and serve in a coconut shell or mug.

The Daiquiri is a fan favorite. An IBA official that is delicious and refreshing.

2.25oz Light Rum
1.25oz Lime Juice
0.75oz Simple Syrup 1:1
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Gin Rickey

The Gin Rickey is part of the Rickey cocktail family. A simple three-ingredient cocktail made directly in the glass.

1.5oz Gin
0.5oz Lime Juice
5oz Club Soda or Seltzer
Mix all ingredients in a highball glass with ice and garnish with a lime wedge.

The Grog is a sailor’s favorite. The cocktail from Smuggler’s Cove is easy to make and easy to drink. Swap the rum out for your favorite and create your own best Grog recipe.

2oz Light rum (or black)
0.5oz Demerara Syrup 2:1
0.5oz Lime Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a rocks glass with ice.

Kapu Kai

The Kapu Kai is a BeachBum Berry strong drink. With 151 rum and lime juice, it is dangerously drinkable.

0.75oz Lime Juice
0.75oz Simple Syrup
1.5oz Dark Overproof Rum (Lemon Hart 151)
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

The Negroni is a well-known cocktail. It has a bittersweet taste and can be mixed at home very easily.

1oz Gin
1oz Sweet Vermouth
1oz Campari
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish with an orange slice or twist.

Old Fashioned

Another IBA official drink. The Old Fashioned can be made with any spirit. Add other bitters for more depth or change sugar for simple syrup for a different mouthfeel.

1.5oz Bourbon
2 dash Angostura Bitters
1 tsp Sugar (or cube)
Add the sugar in a rocks glass and dash the bitters in. Muddle until the sugar is dissolved. Fill the glass with ice and add the Bourbon. Stir until chilled. Garnish with an orange twist and a cherry.

After doing a bit of research for this article, I have noticed that the amount of three-ingredient cocktails is way higher than I anticipated. From IBA officials to classics to tiki cocktails. And with a wide range of preparations too, from building in the glass to blending. There is one for everyone.
